BNG
So I met a German student the other day (who also happened to have spent the last year in Ecuador e yo fui feliz a hablar en español con el) who is down in Bangalore for a year. No doubt armed with the India lonely planet he revealed to me that the India lonely planet only has 2 pages dedicated to Bangalore. That hurt. He went on to say that the guide advised travelers to use Bangalore merely as a transit city.
Well Lonely Planet, Amdavadis and all you other unbelievers, we may not have history, culture or architecture in this city (all of which we do by the way) but it doesn't matter because we have this

Memo: If you visit India, you visit Bangalore, ¿ entiendes ?
Oh and don't throw any of that 11:30 deadline angst at me, if we have to end early, we start early.

true, true.
Bangalore is the best city in India.
i love the city dude, but that 11.30 angst is too angsty for me to ignore
delhi pubs just got a 2 hour extension. 5 star clubs now open till 3.
delhi has never rocked harder....
ill be down to bangalore soon though...atleast ill be sleep well before my bedtime hahaha:)
Bangalore is quite possibly the only spot in India where the weather is so good all year around. Folks, there's a reason that the twin headquarters of the global software industry are Bangalore and California.
Plus, Bangalore is the home of Kingfisher beer. Any other Indian cities wanna step?
yeah well delhi has haywards 5000. it doesnt taste like much but what a name huh?
see thats what all bangalooroos reduce the debate too "we have good weather"....
anyway, i love bangalore to bits. but since i dont stay there it is my solemn duty to make delhi the most rocking place on the planet.
and by golly i will.`
Chitgo - :)
Delhi has pubs? I shall go on now to refute that claim with evidence: Each and every Delhi ''pub'' I have ever visited except for TC ALWAYS plays 3 English songs and then 1 Punjabi/Hindi song. WTF???????
Secondly, - the only pub that can claim to play English music (TC) is a horrendous mix of Linkin Park, Doors, Eminem and Britney Spears remixes. Any place that actually plays music like that should be legally forced to shut down.
Chitgo - I think its been so long since you visited a real pub that you've forgotten what they're like. We'll show you some here. Maybe then you'll see the light.
And dude don't throw names of beer at us...jeez.
Abs,
You obviously have not been to TC in the last one year and don't know what you are talking about.
Also, talking about rock, there is also Cafe Morrison. Now I don't particularly like the music as only beaten-to-death rock songs are played, it still plays only rock.
Suggest you come to Delhi and we shut you up once and for all. It will be fun.
Bangalore rocks! :D
BUT you can't escape the absurdity of the 11:30 deadline .. all other metros are open later .. frigging Calcutta is open till dawn! :)
And about Delhi, while I agree that there's an overload of Punjabi music/thugs(!), etc .. TC IS awesome!
Wow our capital city actually has 1 pub that plays ROCK, sorry 1.5...that is soo neat!!
C'mon Abhi it must be really cool to live in Delhi - you know at the end of a long day when I want to hang out with a friend, I just need to travel for 2 hours see them or get a beer for that matter.
Having trashed Delhi, the B'lore deadline doesn't make it all that appealing anymore. You barely get to a place and it shuts down.
Ok, I'll just go back to work now :)
well first of all, this wasnt about 'pubs' at all. abhi your below the belt arguments have been agreed to. take it easy,...easy i say...
anyways....its funny to hear a bangalore person talk about 'travelling 2 hours' to meet/get a beer hahahaha:)...people are slowly going to be jumping from roof tops to get from one place to another in bangaloorooo considering the infra of the city.
and well, as far as delhi goes, the 'capital' has its cons but oh boy - a new state of the art metro, widening roads, greenery beyond comprehension, rock concerts galore, blossoming theatre culture....and all available to you at a never before (seen in bangalore) time of half past midnight:)
haywards 5000 peene vaalon ki baat hi kuch aur hai....
and yes i admit that bangalore is probably a decade ahead of delhi with the theatre and rock culture:)
`abhi...this is all just me 'frontin' urging you to come to delhi sometime soon;)
Dude, but what about illegal clubs ? I remember going to one which was open at least until 2am, 2 years ago in Hyderabad. It was pretty cool, no police around. Don't you have those as well ?
Ludy my man! You got it spot on. There are always a handful of places that go on till 5 AM. However, one needs to be connected to know which ones they are and on what day. "-)
Hi Abhi,
Could not not to leave comment on this one. Last year when I was in Hyderabad, Venky showed amazing places and told stories no Lonely Planet would tell. This year in Uttaranchal a local guide showed us tibetia villages omitted there - only locals can show you the best, and only friends who love the place, will do it even better. But Lonely Planet is great for maps :)
Wishes from rainy Brussels,
Volodja
