Ahmedabad with Aakash

Aakash got to Ahmedabad on Friday night and ever since it has been one non stop food orgy. he has taken me to all his teenage eating dens and other more famous restaurants too. I have never eaten so much in such a short span of time. But hey you don't visit Ahmedabad too often!

Blogger is not allowing me to upload pictures so visit my
Flickr account to view pictures of Ahmedabad, Gandhi Ashram and other must do's in the city!

Last (sunday) night was also when I met with the ''alternative'' Ahmedabad crowd...your predictable mix of students from the bohemian NID (design & arts school), teachers at international schools, musicians et al. We went to Gandhinagar to a mall to watch a band called Purple Flower play. Pretty much a placid, neighbourhood band but listenable. However, there were literally about 30 -40 people watching them...there should have been at least 300, their music was pretty good. A house party with the band and other folk followed where once again I experienced the now familiar non inclusiveness of people in this city. You can sit in a room for an hour after introducing yourself and feel like you've been assigned to coventry in a boarding school common room. Ah well, at least they had good food and drink. Talk in general revolved around a recent music fest (which I had no clue about) and basketball games played about 9 years ago. But the hosts were some of the warmest folk I've met in this city. So yes, one can find interesting people in this city...now if only one can get them talking to you.

Tonight I head to Kutch.

Yes the lead vocal alternates between Harmony (who kicks some serious ass with her covers of the Cranberries) and Vispi. And yes they did play Wish you were here. Although trying to cover that guitar solo by Gilmour usually ends in disaster. Credit for trying though to them! :)
